The theme for this year's campaign is ‘Shape the Future’ and at Developing the Young Workforce this is right at the heart of what we do. We are employer led and it’s our priority to make it easier for employers to connect with young people across Scotland.
How does DYW support employers to connect with schools?
It’s a team effort to support young people to prepare for the world of work, and through DYW, employers can provide inspirational opportunities for young people to help them understand and develop the skills they need to succeed. There are many ways you can take that first step to connecting with education both locally and/or nationally:
Contact your local DYW Regional Group or the DYW National Team for a conversation to find out more about how you might get involved.
Support your local school or college to deliver one of our National Programmes:
Marketplace is a digital platform that aims to make it even simpler for employers and organisations to make connections with schools and colleges to deliver your activities and share your resources. Whether it is work inspiration and preparation, work experience and placements or influence the influencer you can use Marketplace to share your offer. This platform is open to all and free to use.
Free training for employers
As part of our support for employers, DYW offers a suite of FREE training webinars for those who would like to develop their confidence engaging with education and young people. The three training courses available are Inspiring Young Minds, Delivering Meaningful Work Placements, and Mentoring Young People; Good Practice for Mentors. Our final training session for 2023 is Inspiring Young Minds and will take place on Friday 24th November. Please click on the links above to book.
