Supporting Anderson Anderson & Brown’s (AAB’s) Apprenticeship Programme

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East’s core team and employer school coordinators worked with two HR managers from Anderson Anderson & Brown to support their recruitment programme. Through DYW North East, careers advisers from Skills Development Scotland and school staff also formed part of the effort of raising  awareness about the opportunities among young people. ​

  
​AAB approached DYW North East for support in raising awareness of its 2022 apprenticeship recruitment programme, which offers school leaver opportunities across its tax, audit and business advisory teams.

AAB has a good, ongoing relationship with DYW North East. As part of their partnership working, they asked for support from DYW North East to raise awareness of their 2022 apprenticeship recruitment programme. This included:

• Cascading opportunities into schools via DYW Weekly listings, posts into senior phase Google classrooms and emails to relevant faculty and guidance heads (plus DYW Leads)
• An article about the programme in the February issue of the DYW North East Newsletter
• Social media posts on the DYW North East social media channels
• Flagging the opportunities to careers advisers from Skills Development Scotland.
• Ongoing liaison with the HR Managers from AAB.

The company reported that it received an increase in applications towards the programme closing date, which the HR Manager felt may have been down to increased awareness via DYW.  AAB’s HR Manager has since asked DYW North East for an introduction to the DYW Edinburgh team. The organisation is recruiting for its Edinburgh office and plans to do more in the future. They are keen to replicate the relationship there, which can only benefit more young people.

DYW North East and AAB have discussed the possibility of doing an online or in-school event prior to, or during, the recruitment campaign in future years. This would involve more employer time but may help to raise awareness and boost applications further.
