How to Get Involved if You Are New to Mentoring Have you recently become a mentor or considered becoming one? If so, our free training session is for you. On campaign day, DYW Scotland is running a free training session designed to support you in your role as a mentor: Mentoring Young People; Good Practice for Mentors: Tuesday 30th January, 10am During the session you will explore key mentoring skills and tools, and have an opportunity to practice with guidance and support from an expert facilitator. You will also receive a detailed guide packed full of practical hints and tips as well as resources for further learning. Book now! How to Get Involved if You Are a Mentor or Mentee Mentoring can aid professional development in both young people and their mentors, through providing perspective and increasing knowledge. We would love to hear about how mentoring has inspired you and helped you to grow professionally. On Tuesday 30th January, share how mentoring has helped you gain insight, achieve goals and/or expand your career prospects. You can get involved in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s by uploading a short video, writing a short post or blog article, or by sharing an image. To make it easier to get involved, DYW Scotland have created various image templates for mentors and mentees to use. Visit the #PowerOfAnHour campaign page to access links to the templates. Each template includes three size options: landscape, square and portrait (for use in Instagram stories). If opting to use a landscape or square template, you will need to sign up for a free Canva account if you do not already have one. The landscape and portrait templates include both an option with a frame where you can upload a photo, or one which contains text only. Please feel free to select whichever template option you are most comfortable with. Once you have added your text and (optional) image, click the share button in the top-right corner of the screen. This will give you the option to download your finished image. You will notice the option to select pages (the designs feature two pages – one for each of the photo and text-only options). Please only select the page for the template you have completed. Once you have your finished image, upload it to X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and/or LinkedIn. To ensure that we see your post, please include the #PowerOfAnHour hashtag and tag @DYWScot on X and Instagram or @DYW Scotland on LinkedIn.
How to Get Involved if You Are a Mentoring Organisation If you are a mentoring organisation, please share the campaign page with mentors and mentees within your organisation, encouraging them to get involved via their own channels. Personal involvement is vital to ensure that the campaign reaches the wider networks of mentors and mentees. We hope that by reaching the family, friends and colleagues of mentors and mentees, more people will feel inspired to get involved in mentoring programmes. We would also appreciate if you could share mentoring success stories from your organisation’s channels to raise awareness of the programmes that you offer. Please ensure you include the #PowerOfAnHour hashtag and tag @DYWScot on Instagram and X, or @DYW Scotland on LinkedIn. Mentoring organisations can also use the aforementioned templates from the #PowerOfAnHour campaign page to create campaign day content. If you would like any assistance in using the templates or would like more information about the campaign, please contact [email protected] to request a Partner Toolkit. Comments are closed.
