The Industry Insight sessions profile growth and demand sectors across Scotland, raising awareness of career pathways and opportunities. The Skills Sessions offer employer perspectives, practical insight and development in building a personal brand, enterprising behaviours, interviews in a virtual world, CV’s and cover letters, and financial wellbeing. Young people can also register to complete the DYW e-learning modules, giving them certificated learning in Customer Service, GDPR, Cyber Security, Basic Health and Safety and Life at Work. Young people last year let us know what they thought of their Skills Academy experience; This year the experience is enhanced for young people with access to free leadership coaching for 18 to 24 year olds from partner ‘Know You More’, access to learning resources from ‘MindTools for Business’ and library access to wider recorded content from Speaker for Schools. We have also embedded new skills sessions focusing on virtual working, which we see as a vital element of the world of work now and into the future.
Delivery of the DYW Skills Academy relies on the continued support of our employer partners and we thank all of those who have been involved to date and will continue to be involved over the summer months. Young people and support practitioners can find out more about the programme HERE. Employers wishing to get involved can contact their local DYW Regional Group to offer support in CV checks and virtual mock interviews. The DYW Skills Academy is one of many offers for young people leaving education this summer. Do check out the Young Person’s Guarantee which offers all 16-24 year olds the opportunity of a job, apprenticeship, further or higher education, training programme or volunteering. You can search for opportunities and find wider support on the site and by following the #YPGuarantee on social media. Comments are closed.
