Scottish Careers Week - What's Happening Across the Region

It’s Scottish Careers Week, and we are proud to support Skills Development Scotland’s annual week-long campaign, which aims to increase young people’s awareness of a range of roles and pathways - enabling them to make informed career choices.

Across the DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian & East Lothian region, we have a wide range of employer and partner organisations shaping the future workforce through a variety of school events and activities. Check out some of the fantastic events and activities below:
 
Monday 10 November

• Portobello & Holyrood High School visit to Aberdeen Offices

Tuesday 11 November

• Balerno High School – JP Morgan are doing a class talk
• Midlothian regional spotlight sessions - Careers that Shape Lives: A range of employers from physio therapists, occupational therapists, Midwifery, Hairdressers. There will be market stalls plus career talks on the night
• Portobello High School – Law @ Napier Admissions class talk
• Trinity Academy – Industry Insight Session with Robertsons Quantity Surveyors
• Portobello High School S1 – School of Art History class talk with Lesley Stevenson, Senior Conservator, National Gallery 
• Craigmount High School – DYW Information Evening with a range of employers

Wednesday 12 November

• Trinity Academy – HOMIC S2 Girls Competition Group – Challenge/Experience
• Musselburgh Grammar - QMU Means Business mentoring support for S4-S6 retail pupils

 
Thursday 13 November

• Trinity Academy – Industry Insight Session with Blackwood Care
• Midlothian regional spotlight sessions - Creative and Cultural
• Balerno High School – JP Morgan class talk
• Knox and Musselburgh - Girls into STEM site visit at EDF
• Boroughmuir HS, St Thomas of Aquin RC HS, North Berwick HS - visit to Aegon Offices

 
Friday 14 November

• Tynecastle High School – Future Friday – InterGen class talk
• Penicuik High School – Hay’s Travel class talk
• Beeslack High School – Environmental Health class talk
• Lasswade High School – Navy S2 Meta Skills Activity
• Knox Academy - S3 pathways event
