What comes next?
Scotlandâs Programme for Government underscores the importance of eradicating child poverty and growing the economyâgoals where DYW continues to play a critical role. The organisation remains focused on key areas: advancing equality, reducing youth unemployment, and further enhancing employer engagement. Education and skills system reform is central to DYWâs future. The initiative aims to build on its decade of progress by strengthening partnerships and creating even more opportunities for young people to succeed. Further collaboration with skills delivery partners, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and third sector organisations like MCR Pathways along with others, is at the front of our agenda to engage and support those young people who need most support. DYW Employer Forum Vice Chair Elma Murray reflects on this forward momentum: â âAs we look ahead, we consider how our ongoing education and skills system reform can help DYW build on the strength of what we have developed to date. Having employer leadership and voice embedded in reform, along with system collaboration and effective structured partnerships is critical. The Career Service Collaborative supports this system collaboration, giving us the opportunity to move from what we know is good, to be great.
âA Call to Action The successes of DYWâs first decade are just the beginning. The organisation calls on employers, educators, and policymakers to continue shaping Scotlandâs future workforce. By fostering strong partnerships, enhancing vocational training, and creating employment opportunities, DYW aims to secure a brighter future for the next generation.
