DYW Glasgow is led by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, with the key focus being on strengthening industry engagement with education and increasing employment opportunities for young people in the city.
In Glasgow, we bring industry and education closer together to help young people become more work ready, move to positive destinations after school, increase their understanding of the skills employers look for to ensure they can make informed choices about the jobs and careers that they want to pursue. From industry insights to apprenticeships, and a host of options in between, we work with employers to tailor their involvement in a way that meets their business needs. We support employers of all sizes to address their workforce requirements and proactively respond to the needs of the local labour market, to ultimately help Glasgow flourish economically. In 2014, DYW Glasgow was announced as the first regional Developing the Young Workforce Group. This was the result of extensive earlier research by Glasgow Employers Board (now Glasgow Employment and Skills Board GESB), Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s flagship employment and skills group who formed its Youth Employment Action Group to develop employer-led solutions to youth unemployment in Glasgow. More recently in 2018, as part of the establishment of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s Council Director Policy Forums, the GESB is now fulfilling the role of Policy Forum from views of employers around the wider employment and skills area. |
